Rooms and Amenities

Esquinas offers rustic but comfortable cabins with private hot water bathrooms, ceiling fans, and porches with hammocks or chairs facing the forest. Rooms do not have air conditioning, televisions, or phones, which helps maintain a quiet and immersive nature experience. Meals are served in a covered open-air restaurant, with a set menu that includes local and international dishes. Vegetarian and other dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

Birding on the Property

The lodge features a well-maintained trail network through primary and secondary rainforest, along with a pond that attracts kingfishers and herons. Feeders near the restaurant draw in hummingbirds and honeycreepers, and forest birds are often seen right from the main lodge deck. Birding begins the moment you arrive.

    Resident species are present year-round. The dry season (Dec–Apr) offers easier trail access and more predictable weather, while the green season (Aug–Nov) can bring increased hummingbird and manakin activity due to flowering and fruiting trees.

  4. Best Times to Visit

    December through April offers dry weather and ideal trail conditions. May to July is also a good time for bird activity. The green season (August to November) is wetter but very birdy and quiet.
