The lodge offers spacious bungalows and rooms with private bathrooms, hot water, and verandas overlooking the forest or gardens. All rooms include ceiling fans, in-room safes, and Wi-Fi. The on-site restaurant serves Costa Rican and international cuisine, and vegetarian or other dietary needs can be accommodated with prior notice.

Birding on the Property

A private trail network winds through the lodge’s forested property, allowing for casual birding on site. The gardens and flowering plants attract hummingbirds, tanagers, and other highland species. The lodge’s quiet location also makes it easy to depart early for guided visits to Monteverde and Curi-Cancha reserves.

  2. How to Get There

    Cloud Forest Lodge is located a few minutes from Santa Elena and about 10 minutes from Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Access is via a combination of paved and gravel roads from the Pan-American Highway.

  3. Seasonal Notes

    Quetzals are most often seen from February to May during breeding season. The dry season (Dec–Apr) has sunnier conditions and better road access, while the green season (Aug–Nov) brings more mist, rain, and lush vegetation. The Three-wattled Bellbird is most vocal from April to May.

  4. Best Times to Visit

    February–May for Quetzal nesting. Bellbird is most vocal between April and May. December–April for drier conditions. August–November for lush landscapes and fewer visitors.
